Iide Town is south west of Nagai City on the western edge of the Okitama Basin. The southern part of the town is taken up by mountains in the Iide Range, the land gradually sloping down to the north with many small streams and rivers gathering to feed the Shira-kawa ("white river") before it reaches the Mogami-gawa in Nagai. Halfway up the Shira-kawa is Shirakawa Dam; the reservoir here is surrounded by a variety of lodges and other facilities for outdoor recreation. Iide Town is also a major beef producer.
