Amakusa is located in the west end of Kumamoto. It's a tranquil island facing the Yatsusiro Sea to the east and Amakusa-Nada to the west. Now Amakusa is connected to the Kyushu mainland by the bridge, it's like a peninsula and is can easily be accessed.
The west coast of Amakusa-shimojima (Amakusa lower island) belongs to a
national park and is rich in wonderful sights. The view of the sun setting
in The East China Sea that can be seen from here is superb and even moving.
The Amakusa-nada wide spreading ahead is so clear and transparent you can
enjoy various sea sports like diving, surfing, fishing, kayaking, gathering
shellfish and so on.
Backpackers Fu-raibou is an open and openhearted hostel standing by the
beach.
Why don't you visit here and forget the passing of time. It's fantastic
to get up at the sound of the sea, smell the flavor of the wind, play in
the sea or on the beach, and have fancies at the beauty of the setting
